Marine Structures Provides Marine Bollards to Pier 14 in Newport News
The inauguration of the revitalized Pier 14 at a Newport News facility was recently memorialized in March and Marine Structures was honored to work with East Coast Repair and Fabrication, LLC. in providing the mooring bollards. Marine Structures provided 150 ton, single bitt marine bollards to the pier project.
Congratulations are in order for East Coast Repair and Fabrication, LLC of Portsmouth, VA who was awarded a contract for 50-calendar day shipyard availability. The work to be performed provides services for the mid-term availability on the USNS Kanawha for the Military Sealift Command (MSC). The USNS Kanawha (T-AO 196) normally provides supplies and provisions to other ships at sea. It is part of the Henry J. Kaiser-class of fleet replenishment oilers for the United States Navy.
In August of last year, Governor Northam announced that the replenishment project that involved Piers 14 and 15, would not only bring new jobs, but also inspire other companies to invest too. He announced then that S23 Holdings, LLC, a maritime ship repair and manufacturing company was investing $64.4 million into Newport News, VA. Among S23’s holdings is East Coast Repair and Fabrication, which has offices in Portsmouth and Norfolk, Virginia, Jacksonville, Florida, and Chula Vista, California.
“The shipbuilding and maritime industries have long been economic anchors for Hampton Roads, and our world-class infrastructure and training institutions have helped build a high-quality talent pipeline that allows companies like East Coast Repair and Fabrication to thrive. We are proud that Virginia is able to support the company’s impressive growth and look forward to their future success,” said Northam.
Marine Structures is proud to work with such honorable companies like East Coast Repair and Fabrication that are dedicated to the maritime industry. Marine Structures provides quality bollards, cleats and fenders at a competitive price across the United States and world.
