Enhancing Naval Readiness at Port Hueneme: Marine Structures Supports Critical Port Damage Repair Project

At Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) in Port Hueneme, California, Marine Structures is proud to contribute to a transformative initiative aimed at strengthening U.S. naval infrastructure resilience. For this strategic project, we supplied American made single bitt and double bitt bollards.  Subsequently, we also supplied American made cleats, playing a key role in the construction of a first-of-its-kind Port Damage Repair Trainer (PDRT) facility.

Mission For Preparedness

This new facility is part of a wider mission to enhance the U.S. Navy’s capacity for rapid response, vessel sustainment, and disaster recovery operations. It was designed in collaboration with Naval Construction Group ONE (NCG-1). The PDRT includes advanced training modules and an academic building to support both instruction and secure storage of materials. The end goal? Ensure Navy construction forces are prepared to maintain operational readiness—even in the face of conflict or catastrophe.

The significance of this project was further underscored by the recent Repair Technology Exercise (REPTX) hosted at NBVC. This cutting-edge event brought vendors from across the country to test and showcase new technologies focused on vessel repair and sustainment. It was an opportunity to push the boundaries of innovation—an ideal complement to the mission of the new PDRT facility.

Building Hands-on Experience For Training

Training remains a cornerstone of naval readiness. Accordingly, NBVC is uniquely positioned to lead the charge. Units like Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) Three have been actively engaged in field training exercises at the base. Additionally, they have been practicing pile driving, timber pier construction, and other essential repair techniques. Henceforth, these efforts build vital hands-on experience, preparing teams for real-world scenarios involving battle damage or natural disasters.

Located in proximity to NCG-1, Underwater Construction Team 2, and several mobile construction battalions, presentaly Port Hueneme serves as a nexus of repair expertise and strategic maritime capability. With the development of the PDRT facility, this region is rapidly becoming a national hub for port damage training and innovation.

American Made Mooring Solutions

Finally at Marine Structures, we are honored to support the U.S. Navy’s mission with high-quality, American Made mooring and berthing solutions. This project not only reflects our technical capabilities—it embodies our commitment to defense readiness and long-term resilience.
