Reflecting on 2024: Marine Structures Contributions to Maritime Projects
As 2024 comes to a close, Marine Structures reflects on a year of exciting projects and successful collaborations. From providing high-quality marine products to military bases and ports to supporting key infrastructure upgrades both in and out of the United States, we’re proud to have played a role in shaping the maritime industry this year. Each project, big or small, reinforced our commitment to delivering reliable, innovative solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients.
Marine Structures kicked off 2024 by supporting the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) as they prepared to welcome the National Security Multi-Mission Vessel II Training Ship (NSMV) in October 2024. This state-of-the-art training ship required a robust and updated waterfront to ensure seamless operations and safe mooring. We were honored to contribute to the redevelopment of the MMA Pier by providing American-made 200- and 250-ton tee-head bollards to the contractor leading the project.
Next, Marine Structures was thrilled to support the effort to rebuild the Cruz Bay Visitor’s Center and help revive the vital tourism industry that sustains the St. John community. For the repair of the bulkhead and pier, we proudly supplied durable D-fenders and high-quality cleats, ensuring the infrastructure is ready to welcome visitors and vessels alike.
Virgin Voyage’s first Lady Ship, the Scarlet Lady, made a grand debut with its homeport in Miami, Florida. Marine Structures was proud to play a part in welcoming this stunning vessel by supplying top-quality bollards and fenders for the new port terminal. Our durable products ensure smooth and secure mooring operations, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience for the Scarlet Lady and its passengers.
The Wharf Bravo Structural Repair project at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base has significantly enhanced the base’s capacity to support the U.S. Navy, NATO, and allied services. Marine Structures was honored to contribute to this critical upgrade by supplying American-made double bitt bollards and cleats. These durable and reliable products are essential for secure mooring and play a key role in ensuring the base remains a pivotal hub for military operations.
The Unalaska Marine Center, a vital hub in Alaska’s thriving maritime industry, advanced its renovation efforts with the addition of high-quality double bitt bollards and cleats from Marine Structures. These essential components are designed to withstand the harsh Alaskan environment, ensuring secure and efficient operations for vessels navigating this critical maritime gateway.
Marine Structures takes pride in supporting the training of future sailors by supplying domestically manufactured, American-made single and double bitt bollards to the Naval Construction Training Center in Port Hueneme, California. These high-quality bollards play a crucial role in the hands-on training of naval personnel, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and tools needed to operate effectively in maritime environments.
We were also able to support the Harbor Master at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Newport News, VA, by supplying a variety of specialized marine products. These include wing-type fenders, element fenders, donut fenders, and single bitt bollards, each designed to enhance the base’s dock infrastructure. Joint Base Langley-Eustis plays a pivotal role in both Army and Air Force operations, making it essential to provide durable, high-quality solutions.
As we reflect on the impact of our work, Marine Structures is incredibly thankful for the opportunity to support both our country and those outside the U.S. with reliable, high-quality marine products. We take pride in contributing to projects that strengthen infrastructure and serve critical functions across the globe.
